Wallace Stevens / Fuerza

La poesía es una fuerza destructora

De esto se trata la miseria:
No tener nada en el corazón.
Es tener o nada.

Es tener una cosa,
Un león, un buey en tu pecho,
Sentirlo respirar allí.

Corazón, robusto perro,
Joven buey, oso patas chuecas,
Su sangre prueba, no escupe.

Es como un hombre
En el cuerpo de una bestia violenta.
Sus músculos se hacen suyos.

El león duerme al sol.
Su hocico está sobre sus garras.
Puede matar a un hombre.

Wallace Stevens (Reading, Pennsylvania, 1879 - Hartford, Connecticut, 1955), "Parts of a world", 1942; Collected Poetry & Prose, The Library of America, Nueva York, 1997

Poetry Is a Destructive Force
That's what misery is,/ Nothing to have at heart. /It is to have or nothing.// It is a thing to have, /A lion, an ox in his breast, /To feel it breathing there.// Corazon, stout dog, / Young ox, bow-legged bear, /He tastes its blood, not spit. // He is like a man /In the body of a violent beast. /Its muscles are his own... /The lion sleeps in the sun./ Its nose is on its paws. /It can kill a man.

And men crowd about the poet and say to him, "Sing for us soon again' - which is as much as to say, 'May new sufferings torment your soul, but may your lips be fashioned as before; for the cries would only distress us, but the music, the music, is delightful."
    -Soren Kierkegaard

Saludos! y gracias por el post, genial como siempre.
