En mayo el parque y yo vueltos a visitar

Los marginados en el parque
Beben Bud y Efes
Leo las tapitas de las botellas
Y les arranco las etiquetas a las latas
Entre tubos de plástico delgado
Y cucarachas delatoras
Mayo
El verde está por todos lados
Y la comunidad de las carpas
Monjes franciscanos del lago
Son una única cosa con los niños
Y sus espectadores
Y todos los niveles que hay entre ellos
Y yo
Con esos espectros engañosos
De la soledad y el fracaso
Todos los espacios vacíos de los años
Abandonados irredentos
Y toda la gente perdida
Yo entre ellos
Cuando
De pronto estando del todo aquí
Entre los tristes detritus
De tapitas de botella y recuerdos
Debajo de mis pies
De algún modo todo esto me pareció aún –
Demasiado bello para irme

In May The Park And Me Revisited

The dropouts in the park
Are drinking Bud and Efes
I read the bottle caps
And pull-off tags from cans
Among thin plastic tubes
And tell-tale roaches
May
Green is all about
And the community of carp
The grey friars of the lake
Are one with children
And their watchers
And all the levels in between
And I
With those delusive ghosts
Of loneliness and failure
All the empty spaces of the years
Left unredeemed
And all the missing people
Myself among them
When
Suddenly being here at all
Amid the sad detritus
Of bottle caps and memories
Beneath my feet
It somehow all feels yet –
Too beautiful to leave
